Chick Julie's Golf Tips
Are you the type of chick that has a 10:00 tee time and shows up to play at 9:52? Lets see, that gives you 8 minutes to put on your golf shoes, pay for your round of golf and, of course, that last minute pit stop. Now, is it any wonder your body isn't ready to just "swing away"? It is also important to arrive at the tee in time to do some basic stretches. Always stretch your calf, hamstrings and even your arm muscles before the first swing of the day. You won't believe how much it helps especially if you're not a "spring chick" anymore. I recommend getting to the course at least a half hour before your tee-time and you'll be pleasantly surprised at how much more prepared your body is. You may even have a little more time to flaunt your investment knowledge. Tip 2 | Picking Your Golf Ball How many of you ladies get out to the first tee and start digging in your bag for a ball? Then, after looking them over you pick out the one you can actually read the name and number but its probably been used 10 times!! If you went bowling would you pick out a ball with a nick in it? Do you think the football or basketball games could be played with balls low on air? Well, one of the most important pieces of equipment in golf is the golf ball. The newer the ball, the better the performance. Most pro players change balls after a couple of holes but why not they're not paying for them!! I don't expect you to play with a new ball every round but don't let your husbands hand you their old "used" golf balls and tell you how great they are. The only reason they're giving them to you is to empty their bags and make room for the new ones they just bought! Tip 3 | Golf Wear Tip 4 | Lob Wedge How many of you have heard the term " lob wedge" and didn't have a clue what it meant? A few years ago, several tour players started carrying extra wedges in their bags for specific shots. The golf magazines showed Phil Michelson and Tiger Woods using their lob wedges and making unbelievable shots. Well, in my opinion that club is best left for the professionals. When you see the pros hitting a high "lob" from the fringe of the green it looks terrific but its VERY difficult to master. Most of us amateurs will be hitting that same shot either too fat or too thin and it will cost you lots of strokes around the green. You can only carry 14 clubs in your bag so don't waste one on a lob wedge. Put a 9 wood or extra iron in your bag instead. |
