AAA Golden Egg Club

CHICKS: How did you meet?
AAA GOLDEN EGG: Penella (Henny Penny) and Huguette (Huggie McEggie) both attended the book signing at the Owl's Nest in Calgary. Both had an interest in investing, but didn't really know which direction to take. Penella's room-mate, Rhonda (Sunny) joined Penella with her quest. By visiting the web-site, Penella met Annette (Spring Chick), Kerri (Eggs Kerridict) & Huguette. Huguette gathered a few hens from work; Sharon (Little Red Hen), Jocelyn (Empty Nester) & Lise (Llama Mama). On the side, she also enlisted her niece Nicole (chicnic) and her future sister-in-law Catherine (Eggerine).

Where are you located?
We are a group based in Calgary. We send e-mails, phone and use the message board to communicate to all our members. We also meet in person, once a month.

How long have you been together?
We have been meeting off and on since the spring and officially became a group on June 24, 2001.

Would you accept any new members?
We currently have 10 members and do not plan on adding to that number.

What prompted you to start the club?
We all had a common interest in learning more about stocks and how to invest. We all read the Chick's Laying Nest Eggs book and believe in i's philosophy and light-hearted fun approach. We all have careers and families and want to have an opportunity to invest without it consuming our time.

How did you come up with your name?
As we still had not met face-to-face, but wanted to get started with the message board, we began with the XXX Club. Once we met on June 24th, after several names, not wanting to be recognized as a porn club, one of our members showed us a promo flyer that she had received using the Golden Egg idea. It was destiny! We all loved the Golden Egg name and decided to add AAA, as in Top Grade, but also changed our listing from the bottom of the alphabetical list to the top!

How has your portfolio done?
To date our portfolio is doing great, since we haven't bought anything yet! Our first acquired stocks will be purchased in late fall. At this time we are all researching the same company to compare results at our next meeting. As we are all still learning, this method will help us to learn from one another by seeking the same results based on the Chicks Dozen. We will all understand where the numbers are coming from, how to analyze and do the formulas. We can ask each other questions & share resources.

What is the club's greatest benefit?
The greatest benefit of being involved with the club is the motivation that we get from each other.

What advice do you have for other clubs?
Make sure that before your Operating Procedures are signed, that you meet several times to discuss your investment philosophy. Get to know the people you will be working with. Make sure that everyone believes in the same process and path that you will be taking with the investments.
