CHICKS: How did you all
meet?
MAGNOLIAS: Our President, Lauri, knows all of us (or is related
to us). She thought it would be great fun to get everyone together.
Where are you located?
All over the place! California, Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, Wisconsin,
New York and North Carolina.
How long have you been together?
Counting today... about 50 days!
Do you meet online or face-to-face?
Our first meeting was by conference call. Since then, we've met online.
What prompted you to start the club?
Lauri read Karin's book and was inspired. She missed far away friends
and family, and wanted to spend more time with them. Also, she was tired
of not being very savvy about investing. So, she got everyone pumped
up about getting this started.
How did you come up with your name?
Thanks to Libby, who looked up the word, and read an explanation of
it… "An ordinary tree that produces extraordinary results."
We have big plans for those extraordinary results.
What stocks do you own?
Let me think... NONE...Yet! Ask us next month. We're having
our first "buy" meeting in September.
What is the greatest benefit you've received
since joining your club?
Knowledge has been the greatest benefit and of course the chance to
get together regularly with a wonderfully bright and funny group of
women.
What has been your greatest problem running
the club?
The fact that not everyone knows each other and that we meet online,
sometimes it's hard to know if someone's being sarcastic or not. Since
we've never all been in a room together, it was very difficult and time
consuming getting the brokerage agreement signed by all of us. We did
it, though, and we're ready to start investing!
What advice do you have for other clubs either
starting out or that have been around awhile?
Keep it fun and fresh and don't take it too seriously. Jump in and read
and learn.
