What do you do with the information I give you when I register?

We only use your information for internal purposes. We never share any or your personal information with anyone else. If you want more detailed information, be sure to read our complete Privacy Policy.

Why won't your site let me register?

There could be a number of reasons:

  • You've chosen a username that's already in use. Pick another one.
  • You've chosen a username that starts with "chick." We don't allow that anymore. (Hey, you can be a chick without the name. It was getting a bit confusing around here!)
  • Your browser is not set to allow for online registration. You need to check to make sure your browser has the following settings enabled:

    > JavaScript turned on.
    > Allow for cookies.

Where you find the settings for these depends on what browser you're using and what version of that browser. In later version of Internet Explorer, you can look at settings in these two areas:

Tools > Internet Options > Security > Custom Settings
Tools > Internet Options > Advanced

Once I'm registered, how do I log on?

  1. On the chickslayingnesteggs.com site, go to the Meeting Place. Now, look at the message written on the screen right above the board listings. Does it welcome you with your username? If so, you're already logged in. If it says "You are not currently logged in" then you need to continue...
  2. Click the "Log In" link right under the Chick Boards title near the top of the page.
  3. Enter your username and password. Check the box if you want these to be remembered on the computer you're currently using (so that you don't need to log in every time). Click on the "Log In" button at the bottom of that screen. You should be successfully logged in now.

I'm registered, but why can't I log on to your site anymore?

Make sure you check the information in the answers to the 2 questions above this one. If you use to be able to log on successfully but now you cannot (and you haven't changed browsers or browser settings), then the problem is likely related to one of the following issues:

  • Your user information was deleted from our database. This usually happens because someone registers and email address that is invalid or undeliverable. (Make sure you accurately enter your email address and that it can receive email from feedback@chickslayingnestegss.com.) Our system will eventually delete files that cannot be contacted via email. This is necessary for a number of reasons, including security. If you think your registration information may have been deleted, put your username in an email and send it to us at feedback@chickslayingnesteggs.com. We can look it up and see if you're still "with us" or not. If your file has been deleted, you may register again using a valid email address.

  • You're attempting to sign on from a computer that has Internet security settings where sites must be "approved" before certain interactions can take place. Make sure our site is listed as an approved site.

  • Occasionally, the cookies (browser files on your computer's hard drive) get corrupted. The cookies start to crumble! If this happens to your Chick cookies, then our site can't recognize you and you'll need to delete the cookies before trying to log on to our site again.

There may be an option under your browser's preferences or tools that allows you to delete ALL cookies. Cookies, however, can be helpful, so it's better to just delete the ones you really don't want. Here are the specific steps you'd follow to do that:

Step 1: Click on the Start button at the lower-left corner of your screen and then select Find > Files or Folders...
Step 2: In the dialogue box that comes up, do these things:
    > Leave the "Named" field empty.
    > Type "chickslayingnesteggs" (without the quote marks) in the "Containing text" field.
    > Click on the Browse button and choose the following folder on your main drive (usually the C: drive) -- Cookies (inside the Windows folder) -- and then click "OK."
    > Click on the "Find Now" button and wait for the search to end.
Step 3:Delete all the files that are found by right-clicking on each one and selecting "Delete." Don't worry, this won't mess anything up.

How can I find a club to join?

The Meeting Place area is the only resource we currently have available to help people find others who might be interested in joining a club. Apart from that, we try to provide people with the information and tools that will help them form their own clubs... finding interested friends, family members, coworkers, etc. I really do wish we could offer more personalized assistance to those who want to form a club in a particular area, but I hope you understand that we do not have the means to do so.

The information in the Club Central area of our web site (and in Karin's book) provide much information useful in getting a club started. Please let us know if we can help clarify any of it for you.

How can I change my username?

You can't, but we can. Of course, we don't encourage users to do this very often, since it can take up a lot of our time, but we do understand that it is sometimes desired and, perhaps, even necessary. So feel free to email us and include the following information: your current username, your password (for verification) and the new username you're requesting. Make sure you spell it exactly the way you want it. As long as it's not already being used, we'll make the change and send you confirmation.

How can I change my profile information?

You can view and edit your private profile information (including email address and password) by clicking here (or click on the on the "Profile" link near the top of the Meeting Place page). Then change your email address or passward by cicking the "View Private Profile" and then "Edit Private Profile" buttons.

Why did I not receive an email when I requested a password reminder?

We were probably not able to deliver your email reminder because of an invalid or outdated email address. You'll need to email us and request help.

How do we add or remove members from our online club?

To add or edit members (or check to see which members are already registered for you club), here's what must be done by the Club Administrator(s):

  1. Make sure you are logged in to the Chicks' site.
  2. Go to Club Central.
  3. Click on the "My Club Management" link in the right column.
  4. In the Management area, click on the "Security" link near the top of the page. This will take you to a screen where you can view or edit club members. (You need to know their usernames for the Chicks site.)

Why isn't your site recognizing me as a member of my club?

In order for anyone visiting our site to be recognized as a member of a particular club (and so be easily linked to your club's resources), two things must happen:

  1. You must be a registered user on our site.
  2. Your Club Administrator has to add you as a member of your club.

Can we change or add Club Administrators?

Yes. We recommend that more than 1 person be designated as a Club Administrator. As the current Administrator, you can request that by writing to this email address and including:

  1. Your username (as current admin). And if you're not writing from the email address you registered on our site, include your password, too, so we can confirm that the request is authorized.
  2. The Chick username of the club member who should be added as Club Administrator.

Can I change (or delete) a message I've posted?

No. If there is a message (or messages) you'd like removed from your club's board, write us at thechicks@thechickslayingnesteggs.com and we'll take care of it for you. Be sure to tell us the name of your club and the title of the topic you want deleted.

How do I get the chat log to work in our chat room? What if our chat wasn't logged?

While in your chat room, someone needs to click the "Log Chat" selection at the bottom of the chat screen. If this box has a check in it, then your chat is being logged. The person who checks this also needs to uncheck it when you no longer want to record (or before they leave the chat room).

If nobody logs the chat, then no record is kept of your chatroom conversation.

Where can I find the log file from our online chat?

If someone logged your chat, you can access it by going to the Club Central area of the website and then clicking on "Club Minutes" in the right column. This will take you right to the My Club Minutes page, which includes copies of all your chat logs.
