If there was an Academy Award for the Best
Chick Movie of 2001, what movie would you nominate?
Movies?? Academy Awards? What are those?
Bottom line: if they aren't shown at ballet lessons, tap lessons, hockey
practices, hockey games, Biggs, Krogers, the UDF at Socialville-Fosters and
Mason-Montgomery, St. Michaels, SUMC, the back of the oven, the top shelf of
the fridge, the inside of a Groovy Girls backpack, or at the bottom of a
laundry basket, then I know nothin'. Chick Megan
Hmmm, I just saw a great Chick movie. I just rented it and I'm guessing
it had to have come out in 2001. Very catching title: Things You Can
Tell Just By Looking at Her. Here's the link to the MGM
trailer for it. I love that it says, "A man only sees what a
woman wants him to know." It was a very thoughtful and beautifully
acted movie. It's five short stories about five compelling women and their
relationships. Cameron Diaz, Glen Close, Holly Hunter, Calista Flockhart
and Kathy Baker were all fabulous. I can't think of one that outshines
the other, each brought so much to her character. A great Chick Flick.
My runners up for a great love story are: Sweet November, For the
Love of the Game and Woman on Top. Chick Jana
I Am Sam. Sean Penn stars as the father. While the opening is someone
sketchy, you are led to believe that he fathers a child with a homeless
woman who wants no part of parenting. Penn (Sam) has the mental capacity of
a seven year old and when his daughter begins to outgrow his intellectual
capacity, the social workers and family court determine that she is better
placed in foster care. Sam hires an attorney and begins to fight for his
right to parent Lucy, his daughter. Chick Susie
For the Best Chick Movie of 2001, my Academy Award would have to go to I
Am Sam. Only a Chick movie because I think few men are able to handle
the kind of emotion it stirs within. I loved this movie and cried from
beginning to end. Yes, it was poignant and sad at times, but most of all it
made me cry tears of joy celebrating life's simplest and most exquisite
moments. The acting was superb! Chick Cheryl
Moulin Rouge, only by default. It was the only movie I saw in 2001.
Oh wait, I saw Harry Potter. I'll stick with my first answer... Moulin Rouge. Chick Karin
It would have to be Bridget Jones Diary. Betty
Hands down, the best chick flick ever made is Shag! Kathleen
