Do you have a favorite Easter memory?

I think my favorite Easter memories are from my younger years at church on Easter Sunday. Karin and I were part of the children's and Junior choir. I remember singing at the sunrise service at church, having the Easter breakfast, and receiving a cute little marigold. The biggest memory from the Easter Sunday that's stuck with me is singing Handle's Messiah, also know as the Hallelujah! Chorus. Whenever I hear it, I still sing the alto part at the top of my lungs, "For The Lord, God Omnipotent Reign-eth, Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Chick Jana

I love Easter, I've always loved Easter... perhaps its because I have a hat fetish. Perhaps the greatest one was quite recent. My whole family got together in Palm Springs two years ago to spend a weeks vacation. We had a ball, except trying to coordinate who gets to play golf and who has to babysit the clan! Chick Cheryl

Yes... and my mother isn't going to appreciate it. But... Jana and her husband (then) came to visit us in St. Louis about seven years ago. They arrived the Saturday night before Easter. (At least I think it was Jana and Peter. Then again, the whole night is a little blurry. But, whomever it was...) We stayed up late, drinking wine, solving the world's problems, and worse yet -- forgetting the next day was Easter. Just before hitting the sack we remembered. Unfortunately for my children, Easter Baskets weren't first priority on the day my sister was visiting. So the drunken mother did the best she knew how at 3 AM -- I threw some candy on paper plates, hid them around the house and added a note, "Next year, don't talk back to your mom!" signed, The Easter Bunny.

That's probably not a very good favorite Easter memory, but it sure makes me laugh. Chick Karin

It was at the Children's Easter Egg Hunt on the Saturday before Easter at our church here in Scottsdale. All the children of the church were invited to it. I brought my guests, Taylor, Wilson, and Reide. The eggs were hidden all over the church yard -- which is very much a desert! Before going out hunting for the eggs, Pastor Bob said to them, "Now boys and girls, when we go out in the desert, what do we always keep our eyes wide open and watch for?" The kids, most of whom, had heard this many times, shouted out "Cactus and snakes!" They all repeated these shouts several times then rushed out in the desert and within two minutes, Wilson (then age 4) had fallen right into a cactus! That whole day and carrying on to Easter Sunday we all "picked" cactus out of various body parts. I'm happy he missed the snake. Chick Jeanette

My fondest memory of Easter revolves around a friend who had her first child. She was not an active participant in our little social circle but rather kept to herself and "did her own thing." After the birth of her son, her personality blossomed, not just because she was a Mom but because she was indeed a very special person. She, totally without help, put together an Easter Egg hunt on her lawn which included probably about 40 children and their parents -- quite an undertaking. She had her sister dressed up as the Easter Bunny and dyed hundreds of eggs, stuffed hundreds of plastic eggs and truly put together a terrific event. It was followed by brunch.

From that point forward, her social awkwardness disappeared and she shared her remarkable assets with all of us, who came to know her better because of her gesture. Chick Susie

My favorite memory would be of the lamb cake my mother would make each year. Each time the dear would leave the table to fetch another forgotten side dish or to satisfy yet another of my fathers' whims... my brother would systematically dismember our dessert.

First trip out to the kitchen for the butter and an eye would be missing. "Oh dear, forgot the rolls" -- there would go the tail. My mother saint that she was, would get more and more distressed as dinner and her trips to the kitchen progressed. I would be laughing so hard I invariably peed in my ruffled, laced pink panties. By the end of the meal we basically had a headless, tailless mound of flour sprinkled with coconut.

It was truly a sacrificial lamb! anonymous

Singing "He Lives" at four Sunday services (Sunrise, Sunday School, AM & PM worship) as a 10 year old has always stuck in my mind. I never before or since have gone to that many Easter services but love to think of being childlike and thinking of the C.S. Lewis quote "Jesus risen and chocolate bunnies!" Carolyn
