Question of the WeekQOW Archives »Have you ever witnessed a miracle?Using this definition: an extremely outstanding or unusual event, thing, or accomplishment instead of the one needing divine intervention... do four babies count? Too boring? Does staying married after you thought divorce was the only option, count? Still too boring? Does loving the man I married more than the day we first kissed in 1981 count? Does coming from two married parents, who came from two married parents who came from two married parents and so on, do it for ya? If not, I have never witnessed a miracle. Chick Karin I believe the birth of my child is a miracle. I never thought I would make it through the entire 40 weeks, and then to have complications during delivery was frightening. But now that Madison is here, and has survived in spite of my constant worrying for two months now, that's a miracle! Chick Kristin It's my guess that every one of the "younger" chicks will say that the miracle they witnessed was watching their babies being born. I didn't get to see my own being born -- I was out! However, I watched tapes of grandchildren being born; that really was a miracle, I cried! And I believe I have watch God work in the lives of people to help them in so many ways and I have to admit that some of the changes that I have seen in their lives is certainly a miracle also. Chick Jeanette In the realm of miracles this ranks minor, but for all you wives out there, you'll appreciate this one. It was dinner #745 that I had made and was now cleaning up. Mind you, I have a 2 and 4 year old, so clean up is a little more messy than the norm. There is usually sticky floors and fingers and walls and who knows where the food has landed. I went to put the dishes in the dishwasher and noticed the dishwasher had clean dishes and needed to be emptied. I looked at the pots and pans on the stove, my sticky fingered kids, sloppy counter top, crumbs everywhere and just sighed. The kids' father had just gotten up from the table and walked in the other room to watch T.V. I stood there just looking and I said a minor prayer, "God, if you could just do one thing for me today, really, I won't curse his name again. If I could just get some help with cleaning this kitchen up. It's okay if he doesn't , but it sure would make my day if he did." I opened the dishwasher and started putting the silverware away in the silverware drawer. Shazzam! Poof! Pow! There he appeared next to me and started helping me empty the dishwasher. No words were shared, he just started emptying the top shelf while I continued with the bottom. I realized God was performing a one-time miracle in my home and I relished in it. Who knew putting the lids on the tupperware containers could be so enjoyable. I had a little quiet moment with God and still thank him for that miracle. However small in some eyes, it was a major miracle for me. Chick Jana I think over the years we all have witnessed miracles but maybe did not recognize them as such. For instance, when Jeanette (another chick) broke 100 golfing about a hundred years ago -- that WAS a miracle!! My son saying "love you mom" without wanting any money, my friend George finding the dishwasher and my friend Susie buying new golf clubs ( a real miracle)! I guess one of the biggest miracles that happened in my life was the time I fell in the river behind my house when I was about 8 years old and as I was drifting away my mom reached down and grabbed me just before I went under and pulled me to safety. It was a miracle because my mother is a tiny little woman and at 8 I think I was already bigger than her!!! Chick Julie I have been following a mioracle for the last three months. It was around then that our family found out that the baby my 41 year old sister-in-law was carrying had a heart problem. We waited and prayed alot and watched his chances of survival go from 30% to 50% to 75% to 95 % to 99%. On March 20th he was born in Calgary, Alberta. Within 12 hours of his birth we found out he was in real trouble and he was flown to Edmonton to the Childrens Hospita. The trip was risky and there were a a couple of moments when he was not getting enough oxygen and they needed to operate right in the emergency room to re-open the hole in his heart so he could get oxygenated blood into his heart... The Miracle is... it is only April 14th and my little nephew Alex is back in our home town and they said that he will be home in the next couple of days. The Heart surgery to repair the transposed heart valves was a success. The test results taken to determine if there would be any brain damage from the lack of oxygen are negitiuve "He is a real bright little angel." And he is our Miracle!! Brenda |
