Question of the WeekQOW Archives »What was a moment that changed your life forever?I've had five life changing moments. They each have a name. Phil, Taylor, Reide, Wilson and Avery. If I go beyond the obvious life changing moments, I'd have to say... getting my driver's license, hitting the mailbox, Wilson getting 3rd degree burns, Taylor getting 45 stitches on her face, moving into our new house in MN, and getting my first taste of beer. (Not necessarily in that order.) Chick Karin Meeting my husband while I was engaged to another man. The minute I shook my husband's hand, I realized I hadn't truly known what "love at first sight" was. Chick Kristin March 25, 1998 I became a mother. There's been many more moments that have changed my life forever, but I don't think any of them transformed me more about my beliefs of the world and about myself than the single moment I became a mother. The funny thing about that one single moment is that it continues to effect my life daily and I still find myself pondering my own beliefs along with the world's beliefs. Chick Jana The obvious events that changed my life forever were meeting Pete, marrying Pete, and giving birth to each of my three girls. But they are just too too obvious. So for this assignment I would have to say the day my first lap top computer arrived at my house. Karin insisted I get it, she asked continually if I had ordered one, she ordered it -- I just paid for it and accepted delivery when it arrived. Things have just not been the same since! Chick Jeanette No doubt about it, the day my dad died on 10/25/01. I've never lost someone so close to me and I had no idea what a profound affect it would have upon my life. My faith has most certainly been tested, I think of him each and everyday and I probably live life more fully because of it. Chick Cheryl I guess either marriage or children as both have dramatically altered any other course of my life. Can't wait to see the answers to this one. Chick Susie We all know how the birth of a child will change your life forever, but my story is a bit different. When I was told my beautiful baby boy had Down Syndrome, I was numb, then devastated, then came this overwhelming sense of incompetence. I knew I loved him with all my heart, but how would I know if I was doing the right things to fulfill his special needs? Well, that's when it happened... my husband (who I never really thought of as being the profound type) explained to me that "Tanner would be our teacher, along with everyone else's life he will touch and not the other way around." Yep, that was my "light bulb" moment. Not only did I begin to see things in a much brighter light, I began to get excited about this new challenge and adventure I was about to begin along side of a man I had loved for so long but never really knew the depth of his wisdom. I now try to look at all my experiences (good and bad) as an opportunity to learn and grow, though I may not even understand. Lisa, Minnesota ExecuChick P.S. I am one blessed and lucky chick! The moment that changed my life: June 26, 1992 when my daughter and only child left this world. Major reevaluation of what's life about. Peg O Well, I guess I have a few... My father died when I was three and soon after I was being sexually abused by my uncle (and two others). This went on for 10 years. Fast forward to present day... 30 yrs. later. I just found out yesterday that my uncle is pleading guilty to the charges (the case has been ongoing for the last two years) and will be sentenced this summer. I no longer have to go to court and testify and be cross-examined... what a great feeling! So I think maybe this is a moment that will change my life. I feel like my eyes and soul are open to new experiences instead of holding on for dear life. I'm actually sitting here thinking, I am indeed one of the lucky ones! I feel empowered. Flynn |
