Question of the WeekQOW Archives »What is your favorite HEALTH TIP?Never miss a check up! If you have anything that you're concerned about, remember its better to KNOW what it is and be able to treat it early, than bury your head in the sand only to have the rest of your body soon follow! Chick Cheryl A glass of red wine or a beer every night will help your heart!! Chick Julie Exercise, exercise, exercise. Walking, biking, swimming or whatever -- but keep that body moving! Chick Jeanette Water... drink lots of water. It's cleansing, satiating,, good for the skin. When I don't drink enough water I feel awful!! (The same can be said for wine, but we won't go there...) Chick Megan Eat only fruit or drink only real fruit juices and/or water in the morning. Wait until lunch before you eat breads, veggies, meat, etc. so that your body and more easily expel all that you ate the previous day. Chick Kristin I try to eat salmon 3x a week. Either on a bagel in the morning with capers, grilled with dijon mustard and rosemary or broiled with veggies. Fatty fish like tuna, mackerel and salmon have higher amounts of omega-3 fatty acids which are believed to reduce the risk of arrhythmias that can cause fatal heart attacks. Contemporary studies show omega-3's are integral development of visual acuity in children and has beneficial effects on patients with inflammatory or autoimmune illnesses like lupus, arthritis and Chron's disease. They can also lower blood pressure, lower blood fat levels and lower the tendency for blood clots. Chick Lynn Read the book You Can Heal Your Life, by Louise L. Hay. It has every health tip for your body, soul and mind. Chick Jana Smiling makes you feel better. Chick Susie Exercise (there's nothing like the feeling when you're dripping sweat and feeling strong and energized right after that step class or StairMaster) and a great haircut/highlight job, then dinner somewhere afterwards. My body and mind are soaring when I combine those two. Beth Get your yearly exam no matter how much you don't want to. And eat yogurt. In my opinion, it takes care of a lot of "girl stuff." My favorite mental health tip is something I heard... do 3 things each day you enjoy. For example; read, exercise and pray. It is supposed to keep your "mental energy coping tanks" full. Tracy Read Fast Food Nation; it will make you think about the beef we eat!!! Lacemaker All things in moderation. Get some exercise, drink some water, eat some good food, do some work, have a little fun, and get some sleep. Cammie |
