Question of the WeekQOW Archives »What's the most recent thing you bought? Where did you get it? Was it worth what you paid?I purchased an airline ticket to Vegas to be with my two girlfriends. Yes, it was worth it! Not because I won in Vegas. Does anyone really win in Vegas? Probably not when their playing nickel machines. :-) Female bonding is the BEST!! Chick Lynn I bought some martini glasses at Bed, Bath and Beyond. Yes, they were definitely worth it. They were for the chocolate martinis I served at my house warming party. MMmmmmm... so good. Chick Jana The most recent thing I bought was an additional 4 place-setting set of my kitchen silverware here in Arizona. We were always running out of silverware before the dishwasher was run; the 8 place settings were not enough. Found the silverware at the outlet mall in Athem, AZ -- felt lucky to find it and the price certainly was right. Chick Jeanette I most recently purchased gifts for our friends' son. He celebrated his first birthday last weekend. I bought him toys and books from Toys 'R Us. Sure, I could have found the items for a lower price; however, our daughter has a upromise account -- for every dollar I spend at Toys 'R Us, Babies 'R Us, etc., those stores will deposit a percentage into Madison's upromise account, which is linked to a 529 account. Every penny counts when saving for college tuition, right? Chick Kristin Last thing I bought was groceries, where did I get them? Dierbergs. Was it worth it? Always -- especially since I had to purchase 30 mini boxes of cereal for the fifth grade social studies project... now that's really worth something. Chick Susie Let's see... the last thing I paid for was for the film developing of my husband's surprise birthday party. SavOn did the developing and YES, with my coupons (or even without), the pics were definitely worth the price! Chick Cheryl A book entitled Sink Reflections from Flylady.net. YES sir-re Bob!!! Miriam 3 books from Amazon.com: The Professional Chef, Seventh Edition; On Food and Cooking: The Science and Lore of the Kitchen; Ethical Ambition: Living a Life of Meaning and Worth. Just call me the existential cook! Diva Tanya Red cowboy boots. $39.99 down from $170.00 (plus tax). They make me feel powerful so I figured they were a good investment. AquariusFilms As a male, I don't remember what I bought recently. Wait! It was flowers for the house. Lemme think! I got it at my grocery store. Yes, it was worth a lot more than what I paid for it. Watch out the Budding Flower industry! Sanjay I just liquidated $50,000 in stock market to purchase Durango Colorado municipal bonds. I get sick seeing the market go down and down, and paying a money manager to take care of it for me... have other bonds (my husband is a muni bond expert) and we are looking at nice, tax free income from all bonds. But I would love to be in a club with other chicks to be in the stock market. Is there a group in Denver? Carolyn I bought leather gloves -- navy blue, wool lined, very soft leather -- and, yes, they were definitely worth the money. With the Veterans' Day sale, plus 15% off coupon, I paid $9.95! (Purchased at Boscov's.) Patty Ten pair of men's shoes from the 1950's. Rachel Microwave - GE brand, $88.63, from Wal Mart. Sullivann |
