50 Best Mashed Potatoes by Sarah Reynolds
So what is my favorite food? It's mashed potatoes. That
caused me to pick up this book and read it in about one half hour.
It has recipes for the 50 best mashed potatoes from traditional
favorites, like Buttermilk Mashed Potatoes and Mashed Potatoes
with Cream Gravy (those are what I really like), to new classics
like Chipotle Mashed Potatoes with Cilantro Butter and Mashed
Potatoes with Wild Mushroom Ragout. (I don't think I'll try those.)
But there are a lot of recipes in here that I am going to try
in the near future. How about recipes for mashed potato-cheese
combinations and potato-vegetable purees? From the most basic
to the most elaborate, the humblest to the most elegant, there's
a mashed potato for every occasion. Just read it and try some
of the recipies! Chick Jeanette
NOTE from Chick Karin: Is my mother claiming to have read my Potato Book? I'll report
next month after making all of them. It's going to be my
new goal... 50 ways to leave your lover, I mean, 50 days to eat
yourself into the fat farm and eventually your lover will leave.

| The
Cottage by Danielle Steel
The only reason to purchase this one of Steel's novels is that
you are totally addicted to her writing as this is by far less
engaging that most. It's the story of three men whose lives merge
at the estate of Coop Winslow, a washed-up, has been leading actor
who spends money like there was no tomorrow. His accountant and
personal assistant encourage him to take on "boarders"
at his Bel Air estate or lose it forever. This is the story of
those who converge at that place and time threaded with the typical
love stories that Steel is renowned for. Chick

| Love, Greg and Lauren by Greg Manning
This is the true story of Lauren Manning, a Mom and vice president
at Cantor Fitzgerald who arrived at work late on September 11,
2001. She was entering the lobby of her office tower, a fireball
exploded from the elevator, burning her over 82.5% of her body.
This is the book which started out as a series of emails from
her husband Greg and takes you through the surgeries, therapies
and the reason Lauren survived this tragic and near fatal injury.
There are a lot of very poignant moments throughout and be prepared
with a box of Kleenex when you read this book. Chick

| The Rich Part of Life by Jim Kokoris
This book is a delightful story about a family that wins the
lottery. Teddy, the oldest boy, is telling the story. His character,
as it develops, is so interesting and funny. He makes lists of
things he wants to buy but his dad doesn't seem to want to spend
a dime. The phone is ringing off the hook with sob stories from
all sorts of people that need money. This is a fun book for a
book club to enjoy discussing. Chick

| Sun Signs by Linda Goodman
If you're looking for another good book on the zodiac and what
to know how to understand a particular sun sign, this is the book
for you. It's written in a very conversational style, with great
examples of every single sign, along with being very humorous.
She has another one out, too -- Love Signs -- in which she pairs everyone up in the Zodiac.
If you want to see how you and your mate match up, check it out. Chick Jana

| An Unexpected Light by Jason Elliot
The author of this book takes several trips to Afghanistan and
tells about the people, culture and atmosphere from the peaceful
valleys to the terrifying sounds of war. It is a very interesting
and enlightening book that broadens a person's comprehension of
this country. This is a great book to read now because it talks
about all the towns, caves and people the American soldiers are
coming across while they are fighting the war. Chick

| You Can Heal Your Life by Louise L. Hay
The book's premise is that most of the ailments, sickness, and
pain we have in our body are due to a manifestation of what is
going on in our mind. For example, if you're having sinus infections
a lot, you may want to look around; the books says that you are
irritated with someone very close to you. It's a beautiful self-help
book for anyone who wants to understand how their mind and body
work together and also get to the heart of some of the recurring
illnesses that people have. Chick Jana |
