Question of the Week

Any thoughts on the recent Dixie Chicks making headlines?

Chick Jeanette: The Dixie Chicks have been talked about on my cars radio station every day -- one talk show after another. I would like to hear a "stronger apology" from them.

Chick Megan: Honestly, I think those Chicks can say whatever they want. We are in this country enjoying the freedom and ability to do that kind of thing, so go for it! But then please don't whine when people freely vocalize their disdain for your comments, and boycott your music. It goes both ways. Obviously some people have gotten carried away with their anger and used threats, which is too bad. I absolutely love a good debate and love to drive my point home... hard. But threats are ridiculous, just nonsense

I have to admit it took me a few days to reach this point because I was seriously ill when I first heard what Ms. Maines said. I have been a huge country music fan for years and own every last one of their CD's. I even bought some of their products like hats, stickers, etc. But those are no longer in my possession and I'm not saying I won't ever listen to them again, but I won't be listening to them any time soon. It's my way of expressing how I feel, and I thank God every day of my life that I'm able to do those kinds of things.

God Bless the USA & God Bless my President, George W. Bush!!! Yeeee-Ha!!!!!

Chick Cheryl: Yep, I've got thoughts alright. I absolutely agree with them that they have a right to their freedom of speech. After all, that is what our soldiers, so long ago, fought for. That being said, I think Natalie Maines' comments were incredibly stupid. I feel this way primarily because she was on foreign soil and said them to the British people as Tony Blair was fighting for his political life because of his desire to support the United States of America. Yes, we can have dissent in this country, but I think it should be an internal debate, otherwise, leave and you don't have to come back!

Chick Susie: This may appear to be a slam but what credentials does Natalie Maines present that qualify her to speak about issues of political consequence? Yes, as an American she truly has the right to freedom of speech, isn't that one of the principles our country was founded upon and isn't that one of the freedoms we are seeking for those in Iraq? Her platform appears louder than others because of her celebrity status but I truly think that it was a stupid statement that was quickly a regretful moment.

Chick Karin: I think celebrities should keep their mouths shut when it comes to their political opinions in public. Just do what you're good at...and that's sing. Now if we're talking about Dennis Miller, that's another story. Carry on, Dennis.
