This
past week Chick Megan drove 18 hours from Raymond, Maine to Cincinnati,
Ohio. Megan's husband has changed careers, from playing hockey to
coaching hockey. His new job has him as the assistant coach of the
Cincinnati Mighty Ducks (Anaheim's farm team.) Glad you arrived safely
Megan!!
While Chick Karin was driving home from the 8th grade field trip on
Friday, Intel Corp (Nasdaq: INTC) fell 22%. Remember what I said last
week about corporations conducting business in Europe? Intel happens to
be one of them and warned investors that it wouldn't quite meet
expectations. (These are not my expectations, but those Wall Street
Analyst people.) The news pulled a couple of computer companies down
with it; Apple Computer Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) and Dell Computer (Nasdaq:
DELL) both took a dip.
A Chick home furnishings favorite -- Bed, Bath & Beyond (Nasdaq:
BBBY) -- announced second-quarter earnings this past week. They
reported a 31% increase in earnings to $43.6 million. Maybe it's worth
looking into its financial statements, since it definitely meets the Buy
What You Know category.
One other important Chick market happening this week: AOL signed online
flower-seller 1-800-Flowers Inc. to be their exclusive Flower Seller.
What more does a Chick need? Bed, Bath, Flowers... and beyond.
