On Friday, and believe me this is Chick related, Marty McSorley of the
Vancouver Canucks hockey team was found guilty of assault with a weapon.
The weapon was a hockey stick. He was on the ice. It was during a game.
I'm going to refrain from commenting as the Chicks hear my view on this
subject
often. But, a question that was posed to me today was, "Chick
Megan... how did your husband "Killer" avoid jail during his
playing years?? (Feel free to respond Meg on our Chicks
Laying Nest Eggs Meeting Place message board.)
Tech Stocks were guilty of PMS-ing this week... again... for the fifth
week in a row. Techs are way too young to be approaching menopause, but
we all remember the teen pimples. Due to revenue concerns, the Nasdaq
was down 8.5% for the week, but I'm sure it will discover Oxy 10 soon.
Firestone and Ford are conducting their own off-ice battles. Remember I
told you about the tire debacle a couple of weeks ago? Well, it seems
Ford has decided to drop Bridgestone/Firestone as their tire supplier in
Venezuela. The once close buddies are both facing a criminal
investigation after forty-six road deaths involving Ford vehicles with
Firestone tires in South America.
I wasted words last week when I told you about the impending joint
venture between Time Warner and EMI. (Remember the Janet Jackson on sale
comment?) Well, due to European anti-trust concerns, the deal is off.
It seems everyone and their sister is coming out with earnings warnings
these days. The latest to add to the list are Dell, Apple Computer and
Intel. Please don't anyone give any of these companies a hockey stick.
Chick-held Gap announced an 8% same store sales drop. That means that
the same store, from last quarter to this quarter did 8% less in sales.
How many pairs of zip-off pants can I buy? Hmmm... check out Chick
Megan's article on the Gap coming on Monday in the Chicks Eye View.
Have a great Canadian Thanksgiving weekend. (Canada celebrates
Thanksgiving this Monday.) Thank someone for giving my husband a hockey
stick and pray he keeps it to himself.
