Weekly Wrap

If you read last week's Chicks Wrap, you know that I'm not going to get my beak all bent out of shape when the market falls further south than my rear-end. I've been working out now instead of being glued to the financial television. I have to say, my derriere has picked up, and so did the market!! At the beginning of the week, there was sheer panic (and muscle pain), as the Dow dipped below the much talked about "10,000" mark.but it didn't last too long. Again, my point is, and always will be, if you have stock in good strong companies, you needn't worry about what the market is doing.

Chick Megan's husband Kevin was inducted into his former team's Hall of Fame this past week, and more important than any market news, we want to congratulate him!! Congratulations Killer!!

We'd also like to congratulate all the Tech companies (whose stocks have taken a beating recently) on their superb earnings! This past week was an earnings-reporting extravaganza! SunMicrosystems (SUNW), EMC (EMC) Real Networks (RNWK), Microsoft (MSFT), America Online (AOL), eBay (EBAY) Broadcom (BRCM) and Nokia (NOK) among them. All were shining! One of the strange little happenings was that Nokia decided to report their Financials one week early. "What's up with that?" you say. Well, the market was in a tailspin, and both of Nokia's competitors, Motorola and Ericcson reported previously and didn't have such great news. Nokia came out of the gate with their earnings early and put a hush to all the skeptics of the wireless industry. CEO Jorma Olilla made an appearance on CNBC and is just as excited about Nokia's quarters to come. Do I sound like a cheerleader?

Rumor Mill: There are talks that Chick-held GE (GE) is making a bid for Honeywell (HON). I'll keep you posted. or again, check out the Chicks message board as Chick Jeanette is reporting on GE as we speak.

One more thing. We'd like to wish Club Chick of Minnesota a profitable weekend, as they are holding their Face-to-Face meeting at a casino. Oxymoron?
